Sheppard Ranch Horse Trials

And that's a wrap for Heartland Hideaway! We had the best time competing at Sheppard Ranch Horse Trials with close friends and family. Jessica and Finnegan won first place in the Training/Preliminary group along with Lauren and Wimpy Kid winning the Preliminary. It was a huge accomplishment for Jessica and Finnegan coming back from the prior rotational fall back at Galway Downs. Jessica was nervous and so was her horse but they conquered their fear and kicked ass! Gia and Extra Stellar completed their best dressage test they had ever done and were beasts in the jumping/cross country. The ended up in 7th place and came home more determined than ever to perfect their dressage. Our friends also had an amazing time and placed well too! It was an awesome time!

It's Horse Show Time

Heartland Hideaway had an amazing time at the schooling show in Norco! Gia competed Billie, Penny, and a friend's horse named Charlie! Jessica competed some jumping classes on Billie, and Ripley showed Penny and Stella. Everyone did their best, had fun, and helped one another. Billie has come so far, being able to adapt to new environments to quickly. The show was an awesome experience for the horses to travel to a new area, compete, and prepare for the upcoming Eventing shows we have planned for this year. At Heartland Hideaway we enjoy seeing our horses and friends/clients have so much fun and their hard efforts paid off.

The Benefits of Trail Riding

Do you take your horse/s out for trail rides? There are so many benefits to doing so. Trail riding gives your horse an opportunity to relax, enjoy themself, and truly feel like a horse. Arena time is definitely important and can certainly be enjoyable, however it's important to understand that horses need time to themselves. According to https://lucernefarms.com/benefits-of-trail-riding-for-performance-horses, when you take your horse on trail, their responsiveness increases, they learn better balance, muscles improve, confidence boosts, strength over the topline enhances, their stamina increases, mental stimulation advances, and spooking will decrease. Now you might be thinking, ''My horse is crazy on trail,'' but you can't blame the horse for that! If you don't take your horse on trail often, of course they will be nervous. You need to work them through it and show them how to enjoy trail riding, because as soon as they relax, it will be their next favorite thing. Possibly even yours! It doesn't only give horses a time to relax but the rider too, so make sure to enhance trail riding in your weekly schedule for both you and your horse!
